'EXTRA'VAGANT GIFT WRAPPING IDEAS

Hey everyone, loooooong time no blog! Sorry for the absence of posts; it's been the result of experiencing phases of feeling unmotivated and uninspired. I might write a more detailed post about this 'lack of inspo stage' but for now, whilst an idea is still fresh inside my brain, I thought I'd share it with you.

I’m someone who loves doing anything that entails being creative so something as superfluous as gift wrapping... excites me very much! Now I know this is a controversial subject (lol); some people share this LOVE of gift wrapping whilst others just perceive it as a chore and resort to using a gift bag. I mean there's nothing wrong with using gift bags; even I use them sometimes but personally, wrapping seems more special because you're putting in extra effort that isn't exactly necessary. Sooo this post is for all those gift wrapping enthusiasts. These are very 'EXTRA' wrapping ideas (at least in my book) so brace yourself. I've come up with 3 different ideas, all VERY EASY; it almost seems pointless to write the 'steps' because they're quite self explanatory but I've done it regardless.

1) QUOTE PRINT - 2 in 1

Things you will need:
White card that is smaller than your gift
Watercolours or anything you want to create your artwork print with (fineliner, colours etc)
Ribbon
Paper tape (or blue tac)
Brown Paper

1) Start off by Painting/drawing (use whichever medium you prefer) on the white card to create your art work that you’ll be placing on the face of your gift.I used watercolours to establish this print.

2) Get some blue tac or you can use paper tape (don’t use anything too strong in terms of how adhesive it is). Place small pieces of blue tac on the back side four corners of your print and place it down on your gift; press it in the corners to make sure it sticks. If you’re using paper tape, roll up a piece of paper tape so it becomes double sided and again place four pieces on each corner of your print.
3) Than just wrap around a ribbon and voila. The great thing about this wrapping idea is that the recipient of the gift can keep the print so it’s a 2 in 1 gift.

2) MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

Things you will need:
Mini Screw eyes (fixing hooks)
Paper
Pen
Small piece of string
Brown Paper

1) This one is so quick and simple; all you need to do is screw on the eye screw in the middle of the cork lid of your craft glass bottle.
2) Cut up a small piece of paper; make sure it can fit in the bottle. Write a message of your choice on it and roll it up and tie it with a small string. I used a gold string I had but you can use thread or wool, just make sure it’s not anything too thick.
3) Put the message in the bottle and put on the lid.

4) Finally wrap your ribbon around your present and before tying up a bow, loop through the eye screw; both ends of the ribbon in the opposite directions and tie a knot (see pictures below), this will make sure the bottle stays in the middle. Then tie up a bow and you’re done.

3) BUNTING

Things you will need:
White card
Pen and pencil
String
Brown paper
Double sided tape/glue gun

1) Cut up small pieces of card triangles; or tag shapes (which is what I used).
2) Add any type of decoration on the card shapes you want. I painted a white card with copper paint and used a heart hole punch to get heart stencils. You can use anything; sequins, gems or you could leave them black; without any decorations. It’s totally up to you.
3) Now wrap some string around your present; depending on how many bunting layers you want. Tie it around the back to keep it in position.
4) The next step is to stick on the bunting shapes to the string. I used some double sided tape personally because it produces much neater results but you can use a glue gun if you prefer. And you’re done.

I hope you liked this post and if you'd like more DIY posts like this do let me know :)

Yumna ♥
